The Luxury I can’t even Fathom.

By: Ahmed ELNAHAS – Montopoli, April 25th 2013.
If a lesson should be learned from the institutional performance of the oldest European Democracy, the Anglo-Saxon of course, it would be observed right after each political elections. Because the immediate result is not the nomination and formation of ‘One’ but ‘TWO’ Governments.
One, representing the winning majority, becomes the Executive who rules; the other, nominated and constitute by the opposition and commonly known as the “Shadow Government”, is destined to control. As such the citizens are effectively able to:
        I.            witness on a daily basis the alternative and contrasted measures for laws, and
II.            evaluate the moral and political credibility of the ministers lined-up in both formations.
Such would be the demonstration of a higher institutional caliber and democratic coherence, other than a far-sighted tactical intelligence; if the self indentified as “The National Salvation Front” and apparently unified opposition; would hurry up and appoint its Shadow Government and nominate its cabinet members.
That is the only proven course for active participation, good and free information, adequate control and respect for the separation between the institutional authorities, building consensus, restoring political ethics, upgrading screening standards for political and public services candidacies, and of course establish an irrevocable concept of transparency. All of which are just the foundations for the build-up of ‘True’ social, economic, cultural, and political ‘Reforms’, and obtain the effective system to fight corruption.
Only such a structure is able to establish the mechanisms for activating a “National Programme to deliver the “Egyptian National True Reforms”, and which have nothing to do with those “Structural Adjustments Programmes” dictated in standard formats year after year to drag Egypt deeper into the bottomless ocean of debts and interests designed only to cripple an already agonising economy.
The true reforms designed to provide the practical means to meet the citizens’ expectations for a governance that is respectful of human and civil rights and devoted to guarantee a secure and decent living, alongside the country’s National Security necessary domestic and foreign obligations, within the limits outlined by a unanimously approved Constitution.
That of course if only “The National Salvation Front”  leaders are really what they claim to be: “…. a group of patriots” who are “…. sincere in our thrust to work together hand in hand for a Sovereign Free Democratic Liberal Secular Civil State”!!
Let them first prove that they understand at least three of these sacrosanct seven words that each of them is proudly chewing in every opportunity and through each public appearance.
Pass On The Word.
